Extraordinary opening concert of the 9th Festival Academy Budapest This night we start our 8 days where we will visit many places - the Liszt Academy, House of Music Hungary, the Dohány Street Synagogue, the most beautiful churches of Budapest, the Millennium House, and the BMC - from Hungarian folk music through ancient Jewish lamentations, to the timeless jewels of chamber music and even conversations with the famous writer Alessandro Baricco.
Few hours before the opening concert, our artistic directors Katalin Kokas and Barnabás Kelemen will play the Bartók duets with 44 of the most talented young violinists from our country and beyond, as the Festival Academy's main goal is to inspire the next generation.
The performance delves into the friendship between two world-famous Hungarian composers, Béla Bartók and Zoltán Kodály. It explores their motivations and experiences during their initial folk song collecting journeys, while also engaging the audience with enduring questions about Hungarian identity and national consciousness. Once again, the young creative team summons the spirits of their forebears, whose examples, faith, and transcendent mission offer invaluable guidance amidst the complexities of the 21st century. All of this is presented in their characteristic style – dynamic, imaginative, and geared toward a youthful audience – featuring the stellar actors of the Hungarian Theatre of Cluj.
1905. Elárverezik a párizsi Operaház teljes hajdani berendezéseit.
