The costumes, reminiscent of organic forms entangled in a rigid or elastic web and then inflated, are not only spectacular visual elements, but also expressions of the characters’ inner state, distorted spatial perception, and limited space of movement. Drawn Apart is not about the physical and political nature of borders, but about the subtle, internal fault lines that can separate a person from themselves and from others.
The creative process begins within the framework of the artist’s residency at Texas A&M University, and then, following a work presentation, it takes its final form in the Jurányi House in Budapest, with the participation of two dancers and a live musician.
The project - the second piece in a trilogy dealing with the theme of pain, dealing with psychological pain - aims to draw the audience’s attention to the topicality of the topic through the use of visuals, music and dance.
