Based on their acclaimed ECM Records album Transylvanian Dance (ECM, 2024) Romanian pianist Lucian Ban and American violinist Mat Maneri are rethinking through improvisation the 20th century Hungarian composer Béla Bartók’s field recordings of folk songs from Transylvania. In their performance they use video projections that show rare original footages, excerpts from Bartók’s original wax cylinder audio recordings, handwritten manuscripts and photographs taken by Bartók during his field trips.

This Blue Note album was compiled from the 1947–49 recordings of Theodore "Fats" Navarro following his death at the age of 26 due to illness and addiction. He played alongside the giants of the bebop generation, including Charlie Parker, Bud Powell, and Tadd Dameron.

Michael Mayo’s family legacy and natural talent paved the way for him to blossom as an artist and eventually achieve global fame. As the third vocalist to graduate from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, he has worked alongside the institute’s founder, Herbie Hancock, as well as with Kneebody, Christian Sands and Gretchen Parlato.

A 29-year-old female bass player from India. These few words are enough for most people to immediately think of Mohini Dey. Despite her young age, pages could be filled listing all the artists and festivals she has performed with and at since the age of nine. It was her father, also a bass player, who started her on her professional path, a journey which has so far brought her into contact with Steve Vai, Zakir Hussain, Quincy Jones, Vinnie Colaiuta, and Gergő Borlai.

Many people were surprised when, after a successful two-year streak during which they won the A38 talent competition known as Talentométer and conquered stages across Europe, including Müpa Budapest, makrohang split up. They then caused another, more pleasant surprise with the news in 2023 that they would be reviving what they themselves call their “jazz for metalheads” sound.

A Budapest Jazz Orchestra idén ünnepli 28 éves fennállását. Ez idő alatt számos koncert, hazai-és nemzetközi elismerés, illetve számos külföldi világsztár színesítette a zenekar palettáját. A formáció a klasszikus nagyzenekari jazz hagyományait ötvözi a modern hangzással.

The band Deaf Platypus started out at the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory under the mentorship of Jakub Doležal. Over time, they have moved from jazz-fusion covers to their own compositions: the platypus melodies are often humorous and innocent, but they also like to experiment with odd rhythms and intricate, almost neoclassical arrangements. Jazz improvisation remains the focus of their work.

A Budapest Ragtime Band a magyar tradicionális jazz-élet egyik legpatinásabb együttese, 1980-ban alakult zeneakadémiai és főiskolai végzettségű művészekből. Küldetésük a ragtime és az amerikai tradicionális jazz műfajainak ápolása, valamint ezek népszerűsítése. Repertoárjukban ragtime-ok, swing- és dixieland-darabok, valamint humoros, egyedi hangszerelésű klasszikus és magyar zenei feldolgozások szerepelnek. Koncertjeiket magas színvonalú hangszeres játék, látványos show és közönségbarát humor jellemzi.
